wrong number

I think I gave out the wrong number for Ken's room, it's 662-8571. The general number is 662-8000.

Ken had a good day. I am learning to transfer him from his wheelchair to bed and vice verse by myself. It was a bit tense at first, but as he gets stronger it gets easier. He's been using the Bioness (http://www.bioness.com/Home.php) for his hand in OT, and he got a shower and did it mostly himself. PT was mostly the parallel bars and practice sitting up straight and finding his balance. His face is definitely moving more symmetrically now. He's still got a lopsided smile, but it's less lopsided.

He got a few visits today from his friends at UNUM. It's been fun meeting the people I've heard so much about. Though still hard to get the right name to the right face. There are just so many of them. The visits definitely keep up his spirits.

More tomorrow . . .

  1. Glad to hear you've had a steady stream of visitors, Ken! The evening we stopped by I had just gotten a flu shot that day and haven't been right since . . . so I've been keeping my germs to myself, figuring you have enough to contend with for now. It sounds like you're making steady gains from what I read; I hope it feels like daily progress to you too. I know it can't be fast enough to suit your ultimate wish, but every smidgen of progress is better than none at all. I hope to come back and be more annoyingly encouraging in person soon (sans germs).

  2. J so sorry that Ken has infected you with his hyperlink fetish. Oh well. I guess it was only a matter of time til you had succumbed. Oh, the lengths he will go to to geek us all out. I love you anyway, chief squadmeister Ken.Tess. Oh, and I had been saving some of Jamie's squash soup, but the family is descending (and I only say descending because of their latitudinal status) for the next two days so I probably won't get a chance to run it over. But if D puts up anything else particulary yummy I'll share the spoils before it... um... spoils.

  3. Oh, and just for the record, even though halloween is over I might still torture you with the 27 really bad halloween riddles I had to read over and over and over to my 3 soon to be 4 year old. Just sharing the wealth. Tess
