He had a good day again. Nothing new to report except he has a new NG tube. Thinner so it may make it easier for him to talk and swallow. I spoke to him on the phone. He talked to the boys. Wyatt was a little disturbed by his voice, so he didn't stay on long. But Gus yapped at him for a bit.
Ken asked me about the shower in our basement. I thought that was a bit strange, but then I spoke to his mom. It has to do with his plan to get home. He's thinking he'll be down there for a while so that he has easy access to a full-ish (very small) bathroom without having to deal with stairs. I don't know if he thinks I'm going to be doing firefighter lifts to get him to the TV, or what. Guess I should start doing squats now.
Sorry this is short. I've got a headache, think I'll go rest with a good book (thank you Amy K and Ed). Be well!
My favorite punctuation mark is the semicolon. And it's an apt metaphor for recent years of my life: it's more than a comma pause, not quite a period stop; it usually appears in the middle of a sentence; no one quite knows how to use it properly; it's a sigh of contemplation; a knowing wink; an upward glance of reflection.
Its great to hear about the good! Thank you for taking the time to post! -nm
ReplyDeleteHey Sweetie,
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a relaxing night at home. Thank goodness for the progress Ken is making. Love to you all.

It was great to see your face, Jamie, and those of your beautiful boys, even if it was just long enough for a a big bear hug! I hope the book and the early to bed are just the thing. I'm happy to read Ken had another good day. I'll bet Gus' chatter was great medicine! Safe travels on your trip back.

I am glad there is continued good news about Ken, Jamie! it was good to see you briefly as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all you do to keep us informed about Ken's progress and your own well-being, Jamie. We really appreciate it. I love that Ken is thinking ahead to his needs when he's home. What a great sign! Such positive, constructive thinking will make his progress a reality that much faster. My best to both of you and your family,
ReplyDeleteMary A.
Dear Jamie and Ken:
ReplyDeleteI haven't been able to crack the tech mystery (to me at least) on how to leave a comment until now, but want you to know we have been hanging on every word, every emotion, and cheering every report of progress. Thanks so much for sharing this unbeleivable journey.
You are both quite amazing in your devotion to one another, your strength, your humor. And big, big pats on the back to your incredible support system.
Love,
Mardee Jenrette (and the extended family in Denver, where you also have huge fans following along and sending positive thoughts and best wishes)
Hi Kinnif and Jamie! So glad to hear you have a new tube, that you got to hear Gus yap away (my, how that boy can yap), and that you're thinking ahead to going home. My god I can only imagine how much you want to go home. I'm glad you've got some time to rest up, but I want you home in the little-big house in Cumbahland too as badly as everyone else does. We'll keep sending you forward moving vibes. And I'll send you a funny email chock full of my NYC exploits which are too racy to post here on this family blog. Although here's a funny memory I thought of this morning on the train: remember 6 years and 1 month ago when we were all at Peaks Island and Wyatt was a twinkle in Jamie's bi-valve uterus?! 6 freaking years ago you sat around drumming chopsticks on the side of plastic bowls and Tess spoke so highly of other women (REMEMBER TESS!). That. was. hilarious. 6 years! What a wonderful weekend we had. I love you guys so much. EFS.
ReplyDeleteI remember those firefighter lifts you gave to me on occasion. I believe in you, Jamus. Keep those leg muscles limber!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Tony
